New Gear
These past few months have been pretty good to me in the world of fly-fishing. I have been gifted with some sick stuff that I look forward to testing on the water in the coming month or so. I’ll start back in the late fall of 2015 when I was prepping for busting out some major stuff for the business over the winter. Flies were being tied like crazy and materials were needed in bulk. So where do I go for that? Mend Provisions in Minneapolis, Minnesota. If you haven’t heard of them be sure to pay them a visit on their site (I’ll leave the link below). Anyways they are a super cool store that has everything fly-fishing including rods, bags, boxes, waders, flies, materials, reels, and more. They also involve the community with fly-tying classes and meet ups. A weekend trip up there to collect some materials and gain some new ideas for flies is all I needed for a winter at the vise.
I also get to try out something new this spring and summer that I am super pumped about. I was gifted both the Orvis Helios 2 4wt and a Hatch 3 Plus reel in green. Both were from Mend Provisions and they did a super good job of helping me set everything up. From what I’ve heard, these two pieces are the real deal. I cannot wait to see if the rod actually casts like a laser pointer like everybody says, but I know the reel performs like a beast. This set seems perfect for some small stream fishing up in Dorchester, IA. Maybe I’ll have to go up and try it out soon. Be on the look out for that along with some other product testing. I am also working on a story about my experience in Dorchester last fall that I still have to share with you all.
